We produce all our chocolate in small batches to allow each one to have all our care and attention. Our cacao comes from around the world, including the Asia, Africa, South and Central America, and the Caribbean.

About us

Cacoa Elora was founded in 2014 and in 2018 we started making our own bean to bar chocolate. We are based in Derbyshire and work with a variety of cocoa beans from around the world. That means you can enjoy the distinct characteristics of cocoa from a variety of the world’s best growing regions.

How we make chocolate

Our process is:

  • Gentle roasting of the beans in the shell
  • Breaking and then winnowing (removing the shell)
  • Stone grinding and conching
  • Ageing the chocolate (to reveal hidden flavour)
  • Hand tempering and moulding
  • Wrapping and labelling

Making chocolate in this way preserves the natural character of the cacao, creating the type of chocolate we had before yield and profit became more important than flavour. We source fine cacao beans from trusted sources ensuring that those farmers receive a good price for their beans and our products are as ethical as we can be.

Our goal is simple to make the best chocolate we can in small batches focusing on our customers rather than awards, introducing people to the joys of craft bean to bar chocolate.
